SENIOR SECRETARY

Hayley Chong

DSC_1554.jpg

Hayley chose to play the clarinet because of its extremely satisfying clicky keys, but she also plays the piano.

When she’s not leading the council or playing with both the Grade 11 and 12 Wind Symphony, Hayley is deep into K-dramas. This year she’s also mastered a new hobby: sleeping in on weekends! During holidays, she loves traveling and trying new foods✈️🍱

For music, she usually listens to instrumentals or whatever piece she’s playing in band when studying for biology and physics (to make the sciences feel easier in comparison). She also has a soft spot for late-19th-century orchestral pieces 🤓

Fun fact:
Hayley has downloaded and deleted Brawl Stars more than ten times (she’s fighting against her gaming addiction!)🎮

Find her at @hayyleychong! 💛

JUNIOR SECRETARY

Clara Facchinelli

percussion

DSC_1556.jpg

Clara plays percussion in the Grade 11 Wind Symphony (and even joins the Grade 12s!), a choice she made back in Grade 9 simply because it looked fun. Before that, she’d already been playing piano since age 4 (her mom’s decision 😖… ) and studying classical voice by the time she was 7 because she’s always adored singing.

When she’s not juggling instruments, Clara is usually in the kitchen baking or cooking something delicious, or out enjoying long, peaceful walks. And if she’s inside? There’s a good chance she’s watching or listening to musicals. Her current obsession: Hadestown 🎭✨

Her music taste leans toward jazz and folk, with Astrud Gilberto and Joni Mitchell at the top of her playlist (plus an honorary shoutout to Laufey 😋).

Fun fact: Clara is actually mutuals with Lin-Manuel Miranda on Instagram.

Say hi to her at @salty_claramel! 🍮💛

SENIOR TREASURER

Jerry Chen

DSC_1514.jpg

Jerry has been playing the piano since he was 8 (classic gifted-kid energy), but he also picked up the saxophone at the start of high school (because it looked cool) 😎

When he’s not practicing sax or piano, you’ll find him doomscrolling, catching some sleep, or spending a lot of money on food🍣💸

Musically, he loves K-pop, with LE SSERAFIM being the favourite in his playlist for their unique vibe 🎶or to sax concertos!

Catch him on Instagram at @jollyjerry3000!

JUNIOR TREASURER

Vinoj Seerallan

bari sax

DSC_1519.jpg

He’s been playing the bari sax since Grade 9 and has zero regrets about choosing the biggest, most dramatic member of the sax family. As for piano, he “chose” it when he was 11 and has “enjoyed” every second of it…

Outside of band, Vinoj keeps himself busy playing basketball with friends and building robots 🤖🏀

His current go-to genre is hip-hop, and his favourite artist is J. Cole.

Fun fact: over the summer, he was once ONE metre away from a brown bear in California, making him the bravest person on Music Council!

SENIOR Publicity

Nathan Ji

Nathan is our Senior Publicity exec and a key player in the Grade 12 Wind Symphony 🎶✨

Nathan has been playing flute since Grade 5 (he picked it because it looked easy) and added piccolo in Grade 10 because he loves high notes! 🎵

In his free time, he’s either exploring open-world games, cooking up something tasty, lifting weights (currently mastering the clean and jerk), or hanging out with his dog 🐾💪

Musically, he’s a big fan of Laufey 😎

SENIOR PUBLICITY

Elma Or

percussion

DSC_1477.jpg

Elma joined percussion in Grade 9 after coming in with piano and drum experience, and she’s been having the time of her life in the back row ever since. Her only regret is not starting percussion earlier, because according to her, it’s super fun 😋

Whenever Grade 12 gives her free time, Elma loves reading manga or mystery novels, playing Reverse: 1999, or taking a nap 😴📚

Her music taste is elite. She’s all about jazz fusion, city pop, bossa nova, shibuya-kei, and video game music. Her favourite artist is Masayoshi Takanaka (10/10 recommendation), and her favourite album is the Aria soundtrack by Choro Club. If she’s not listening to that, she’s looping Come Sunday — the piece the Grade 12 Wind Symphony’s currently playing 🥲🎶

Elma dreams of becoming a marine biologist, and hopes to pursue that dream in university next year! If she’s not in the percussion section, just imagine her with a bunch of seals 🦭💙

JUNIOR PUBLICITY

Saffi Yuen

DSC_1468.jpg

She’s part of the Grade 10 Symphonic Winds and has been playing the trumpet since Grade 7 — all thanks to her sister, who tricked her into choosing it back in Grade 6! Thankfully, it worked out pretty well.

When she’s not practicing, Saffi loves spending time crocheting, trying out new baking recipes, and relaxing with a good session of Stardew Valley 🍞🧶🎮

Her music taste has a lot of variety, but she particularly loves K-pop!

Go show her some love at @saffff_y 💛

SENIOR WEBMASTER

Darren Kwok

Darren’s part of the String Orchestra and has been playing his instrument since he was five. The choice wasn’t really his, since he made his decision under the influence of his sister, but he stuck with it and has been practicing ever since 🎻

Outside of music, Darren can usually be found watching football (the real one⚽️), or passionately eating every item on the McDonald’s menu. According to him, nobody knows McDonald’s better than he does! Speaking of food, he also has an undying love for fried chicken🍗🍟

Music-wise, he keeps it simple by listening to classical and some pop, and having no specific favourites.

Fun fact: Darren has been a dedicated Arsenal fan since he was five, and he talks about them with the same passion he talks about food — which says a lot.

JUNIOR WEBMASTER

Aurora Zhang

alto sax
grade 10 symphonic winds

DSC_1490.jpg

Aurora is part of the Grade 10 Symphonic Band, where she plays the alto saxophone. Even though she only picked it up in Grade 7 because it was handed to her during selection, she ended up falling in love with its sound. She also plays piano, a choice she made back in Grade 4 without much reason, but that stuck!

When she’s not practicing, Aurora loves spending time with her cat, taking photos, writing, working on repertoire, and heading out for quiet hikes. She’s also a big puzzle-game fan, since it lets her challenge her problem-solving skills while having fun 🧩✨

Music-wise, she listens to almost everything, but she’s been especially into classical pieces (particularly sax repertoire) and jazz lately.

You can find her on Instagram at @aurorazhang1209! 💛

SENIOR EDITOR

Alyssa Li

DSC_1440.jpg

Alyssa is a member of the Grade 12 Wind Symphony, where she plays the trumpet 🎺✨ Even though she originally wanted the clarinet, her music teacher had other plans… She first picked it up in Grade 9 and has been playing ever since!

When she’s not rehearsing, you’ll probably find her studying for physics, applying to universities (Grade 12 is stressful!), discovering new restaurants, or watching Youtube.

Her music taste? She’s into hip hop, R&B, and 90s rap, with favourites like MF DOOM, Steve Lacy, 2Pac, Lil Tecca, and Brent Faiyaz. Her top album right now: The Lo-Fis by Steve Lacy!

Got restaurant recs or music suggestions? Say hi to her on IG: @alysslli 💛

JUNIOR EDITOR

Hannah has been playing the flute since elementary school, and was drawn in by its beautiful sound. She loves its versatility, being able to shine on its own and blend into an ensemble. She also plays the piano!

When she has spare time, you’ll usually find her baking (cookies, sourdough, you name it), watching movies or shows, or enjoying a good book! 🍪📖

As for music, she loves listening to new band pieces and other orchestral works on repeat!

A fun fact? Hannah loves exploring new restaurants and cafés, and is always excited to try new foods. If you ever need a recommendation, she’s your person! 🍜☕️
